Crux – Community Guidelines
Last updated: June 22nd, 2025
Our Commitment
Welcome to the Crux community! Our mission is to create a supportive, constructive, and safe environment where students can share knowledge, plan their academic journeys, and connect with peers. These guidelines are designed to ensure that everyone has a positive experience. By participating in the Crux community, you agree to abide by these guidelines and our Terms of Service.
The Ground Rules
To maintain a healthy community, we strictly prohibit the following types of content and behaviour across all parts of Crux, including course reviews, professor reviews, group posts, and any other user-generated content:
- No Hate Speech, Harassment, or Bullying: We do not tolerate attacks on people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or medical condition. Abusive language, personal attacks, and harassment of any kind are forbidden.
- No Harmful or Violent Content: Do not post content that is graphic, obscene, or promotes self-harm, violence, or illegal acts. This includes sexually explicit material and content that exploits, abuses, or endangers minors.
- No Swearing or Excessive Profanity: While we understand that conversations can be casual, please keep your language respectful. Content containing excessive or gratuitous profanity will be removed.
- No Misinformation or Spam: Do not post content that is intentionally misleading, false, or deceptive. Spam, including repetitive posts, unsolicited advertisements, and promotional content, is not allowed.
- Respect Privacy: Do not share private or personally identifiable information about others without their explicit consent. This includes, but is not limited to, phone numbers, email addresses, and physical addresses.
- Be Authentic: Do not impersonate other people, brands, or organizations. Be yourself and represent yourself truthfully.
Moderation and Enforcement
We take these guidelines seriously and will enforce them to protect our community.
- Content Moderation: All user-generated content is subject to moderation. We use a combination of automated systems and human review to identify and remove content that violates our policies.
- Account Actions: Violations can and will result in action being taken against the offender's account. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violation, this may include a warning, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of your account.
- Our Discretion: We reserve the right to remove any content and take action against any account at our sole discretion, even if the specific violation is not explicitly listed here.
Reporting Violations
If you see something that you believe violates our guidelines, please help us by reporting it. You can report content or users by contacting us at team@cruxplanner.ca. We will review all reports and take appropriate action.
A Shared Responsibility
Creating a great community is a shared responsibility. We count on you to help us maintain a safe, respectful, and valuable space for all students. Thank you for being a part of Crux.
